When I started work on the house, I noticed that the floor wasn’t level. I thought I could level them pretty easily by jacking up the floor joists. There is easy access to the joists from the basement. After I pulled up the flooring, I realized that this was going to be a MAJOR project. There were multiple issues. First, the ceiling is level. So,...
The upstairs master bedroom is going to serve a dual purpose. My wife is going to be using it as her sewing room but we also want to use it as a bedroom for guests. Space for sewing and a bed for sleeping… a murphy bed seemed like the best option. Most of the time there will be plenty of room for sewing and cutting...
The upstairs master bedroom features a five window turret. The views of the countryside and vineyard are amazing. This is the room that started the entire upstairs remodeling project. See the post – Upstairs Master Bedroom – Construction/destruction Begins The pictures below chronicle almost a year’s work. We had a leak in the roof that went through into the bedroom So… when the contractor started to fix the ceiling, he noticed the electrical didn’t meet code. So… the electrician started rewiring the ceiling fixture. He noticed that the wiring to the switch needed updating. So… the electrician...
The guest bedroom downstairs will remain almost intact. I’ll be changing the closet and the door into the bathroom but everything else will remain the same. This bedroom has a pretty cool closet that goes through into the entryway. (There is a hidden door in the entry.)
The guest bedroom upstairs will have a Murphy style bed instead of the bed that shows in the images.
The upstairs master bedroom will be dual purpose. It will be a awesome sewing room with a fabulous view… and a bedroom for guests. Instead of the bed shown in the picture, we will install a Murphy bed.
I love soaking in a hot tub each evening. So, I’m adding a deck for a hot tub off the master bedroom. I’ll have an awesome view of the vineyard from the deck.
The utility room will stay in the same place but will be completely reconfigured. The coolest addition will be a two way cupboard and drawers that will allow direct access to the walk-in closet. After clothes are washed and dryed… you can put them directly into the walk-in closet drawers. (The drawers open in both directions.) Also, the hanging clothes can be hung directly in...
The master bedroom will remain about the same. We will change the door into the bedroom, add a walk-in closet, an entry to a new on-suite bathroom, and a door out to a new deck for the hot tub.
